We are now officially in the Christmas season! The most wonderful time of the year! The amazing story of the birth of Jesus began with a promise made. The scripture is filled with the promises of God. Throughout His Word, God tells us many things, and you know what’s truly amazing? He follows through on EVERY promise.
We see it countless times throughout the Bible and in our very own lives! But there is no greater promise God made and fulfilled than the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who takes away the sins of the world and restores our status as children of God.
God’s plan to send Jesus can be seen during the time of Abraham. Genesis 12:1-3 reads, “The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
Abraham followed in obedience and was blessed because of his faith. Genesis 15:6 says, “Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD counted him as righteous because of his faith.” The family line that resulted from Abraham’s obedience is the very same that Jesus came from! Abraham’s obedience to the direction of God brought about the fulfillment of the greatest promise God ever made.
God made good on that promise by sending Jesus. The promise included all families and nations. Not only that, but the promise was for all time, including us today! This promise God made so long ago still blesses us abundantly right now! Through the fulfillment of this promise (sending Jesus), we now have a pathway to eternal life spent in a perfect place with God.
So, don’t forget, Christmas is a promise fulfilled! Let this truth fill you with trust, love, and hope this season! God will fulfill every promise made to you and lead you to the purpose He’s created you for. Just like Abraham, all you need to do is follow Him, and trust in His promises!
