FLEMING ISLAND - Former Fleming Island High lacrosse standout Baylee Jennings returned home to her job as a Barco Newton YMCA lifeguard after an exciting lacrosse season at Keiser University in south Florida with Jennings a part of a national championship chase at the college level.
Jennings, a junior defender for the Seahawks, was part of a defense that helped the Seahawks finish with a 15-0 regular season mark; 7-0 in ASUN Conference play.
The unbeaten season was the third in the history of the lacrosse program at Keiser with the same happening in 2021 and 2023.
Keiser earned the top seed in the ASUN Championship tournament, but fell 17-15 to No. 10 Life University in the semifinals with Life outscoring Keiser 7-3 in the third period.
In the NAIA national championship tournament, Keiser, the No. 1 seed again, won a 20-8 game over No. 7 Missouri Baptist in their opening quarterfinal game, but fell 15-14 in the semifinal to No. 5 Cumberlands with the Seahawks nearly winning with a 5-4 scoring advantage in the fourth period.
