PONTE VEDRA - In one of the more powerful swim meets of the season prior to post season tournaments, Fleming Island splashed it out with the likes of Bolles, Ponte Vedra and Nease en route to a 12th place finish at the Frank Holleman Invitational at Ponte Vedra's Planet Swim Facility near Ponte Vedra High School.
State power Bolles won the team titles with a 488-455 score over the Ponte Vedra boys while Ponte Vedra won the girls title 604-447 over Creekside with Fleming Island a strong fourth with 190.5 points. Nease was third for the girls at 319.
Top points for the Fleming Island girls came from junior Katelyn Yarbrough with 25 points with a sixth in the 200 free, a seventh in the 100 fly, plus relay points. Also scoring were Summer Vanwagenen, Katelyn Moore, Elizabeth Loehr and Klara Shoesmith who scored just under 20 points apiece in the high-powered meet.
Fleming Island's girls got top five places in the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay.
For the boys, the top scorer was junior Jake Hall with nine points with an 11th in the 200 free and a 15th in the 100 fly.
Orange Park got 12 points from junior sprinter Ashton Juarez; seventh in 100 butterfly, and 11 points from Dakota Blake who was eighth in the 100 backstroke.
Oakleaf got 12 points from freshman Ellie Strombeck who finished 12th in the 200 free and 10th in the 500 free. Lucius Manley scored four points for the boys with an 11th in the 200-medley relay and 13th in the 100 free.
