Fleming Island wins SJRAC title

MATANZAS - With dominating precision, Fleming Island High's wrestling team dispatched of five area teams to win the St. Johns River Athletic Conference title with host Matanzas High School runnerup, Orange Park third and Middleburg sixth.

Fleming Island got wins of 62-9 over Pedro Menendez, 66-12 over Orange Park, 63-12 over Pedro Menendez, 69-6 over Middleburg, 67-12 over Palatka and a finals win of 54-15 over Matanzas.

Orange Park beat Palatka 36-36 on criteria, Pedro Menendez 63-12, Middleburg 63-12,  with losses of 52-30 to Matanzas and 66-12 to Fleming Island.

In weight class results, for Middleburg, Caiden Berg went 3-0 at 106, Riley Girgis went 2-3 at 126; Gabe Burch went 0-5 at 132; Ephraim Long went 0-2 at 138; Aden Thornton went 2-3 at 145; Michael Higginbotham went 1-4 at 152; Alex Nayfack went 3-2 at 160; Jaden Lane went 2-3 at 170; Ethan Larsen went 2-3 at 182;  Nate Hill went 0-5 at 220 and Nate Hill went 0-5 at 285.

In weight class results, for Fleming Island, Hunter Herrington went 5-0 at 113, Ryan Hobson went 4-0 at 120 with a pin on Orange Park's Davon Bailey; Jacob Grant was 0-1 at 120; Riley Holton went 2-1 at 126; Liam McKenzie went 1-1 at 126; Isaac Padgett went 4-0 at 132; Shawn Breeden went 0-1 at 132; Tyler Williams went 4-0 at 138; Dalton Baysinger went 1-0 at 138; Gannon Janssen went 5-0 at 145 with a pin over Cameron Broughton of Orange Park; Tanner Hill went 5-0 at 152 with four pins and a 14-3 major over Diego Soto of Orange Park; Luke Chop went 5-0 at 160 with five pins; Gavin Smith went 3-2 at 170; Josh Sandoval went 2-0 at 182; Hunter Williams went 2-1 at 182; Jeffrey Lascano went 5-0 at 195; Chad Nix went 4-0 at 220 with three pins under a minute; Ethan Hoffstetter went 1-0 at 220; Raul Gonzalez went 4-0 at 285 and Tanner Speer went 1-0 at 285.

In weight class results, for Orange Park, Yamilie Lopez went 3-2 at 106, Wesley Carlisle went 3-2 at 113, Davon Bailey went 3-2 at 120; Noah Milliken went 1-0 at 132; Vincent Walker went 2-2 at 132; Cevon Broughton went 1-4 at 138; Cameron Broughton went 4-1 t 145; Trevion Sermons went 3-1 at 152/160; Diego Soto went 0-1 at 152; James Cudney went 0-2 at 160/152; Jasmine Hecht went 1-2 at 160; William Evans went 0-5 at 170;  Jacob Moore went 5-0 at 182 with a third period pin over Hunter Williams (FIHS); Julian Moore went 4-1 at 195 with a loss to Lascano (FIHS); James McArthur went 4-1 at 220; Elijah Campbell went 1-0 at 285; Reese Sheehan went 1-1 at 285 and Jonathan Garcia went 0-2 at 285.

Next up are the Yulee Duals on Fri-Sat, Dec. 20-21 with Oakelaf competing and the Knockout Christmas Invite at Osceola on Dec. 27-28 with Fleming Island and Clay both competing. Keystone Heights will compete in the Category V Duals at Gainesville High on Dec. 27-28.
