While most of the country celebrates Arbor Day on the final Friday of April, Florida's climate allows it to get a jump on planting trees to preserve forestation..

Garden clubs in Green Cove Springs, Orange Park and Keystone Heights will host ceremonies on Friday, Jan. 19 with tree plantings.

It will start at 10 a.m. at Green Cove Springs City Hall when the club plants a Crepe Myrtle in honor of Jerry Williams, the first woman mayor of the city.

At 11 a,m., the Orange Park club will plant a tree at its clubhouse at 1820 Smith St.

Then at 3 p.m., the Keystone Heights club will plant a tree at Keystone Heights Elementary at 335 SW Pecan St.
