GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Tuesday night’s Green Cove Springs City Council meeting started with motions for the Proclamations for Finance Professionals week and Administrative professionals’ day, both passing unanimously.
The council voted 5-0 to approve an amendment of the Future Land Use Map from low-density to residential medium-density for property located at the 500-600 blocks of Vermont Avenue. The request was made by Brent White of BMHB Ventures to amend the future land use map for no more than 30 units to be developed on the property.
The Planning and Zoning Board recommended the council to consider changing an amendment at the same location to change the zoning map from low residential density to planned unite development. White said he plans to build a complex with 28-unit duplexes or a single-family subdivision.
Changes since first reading include requiring the developer to provide a 15-foot landscape buffer along Vermont Avenue and a 20-foot natural area buffer on the south side of the property. Arborist will be identifying any diseased trees on the property that are hanging over adjacent properties.
The developer is deciding between a 28-unit duplex complex or single-family home subdivision with HOA, according to Tiffanie Reynolds, the city’s communications coordinator.
In other council business, May 18 was set as the due date for appointments to the Planning and Zoning board for the replacement of outgoing members.
Finally, City Manager Steve Kennedy broached the subject of the city suspending its utility non-disconnection action on April 30.
After that, the finance department staff will work to assist customers in setting up payment plans for their utility bill.
