LIVE OAK - Clay High double state weightlifting champion Emma Heck showed that she is ready to three-peat in her specialty with a dominating performance at the Power of Christmas girl's weightlifting invitational held at Suwannee High on December 14.

Heck, who, was the Class 2A Traditional state champion with a 375 total and also the top lifter for the class, lifted a 385 at her 129 weight division to pound-for-pound far outlift her counterparts; all state ranked lifters, with a 380 total from Winter Springs' 154 pounder U'nitee Brown (second in 3A at 154 last year) and a 400 total by Leesburg 199 pounder E'mia Jones, (third in Class 2A last year at 183).

Heck, who dominated her Olympic Snatch and Clean and Jerk, did not get a bench press mark, missing three attempts at 180 pounds.

Winter Springs' 119 lifter Amy Barrelle, with a 320 total in the lighter weight class, was second second-best Olympic lifter. Barrelle was third in 3A last year at 119 in Tradition; and second in Olympic.

Heck also was state champion in the Olympic discipline while winning that best lift honor for Class 2A last year.

In the Traditional team scores, Suwannee a clear champion prospect with their 1A state titles in both Olympic and Traditional last year, was bumped by Navarre's 46 points with the Bulldogs scoring 28 and Winter Springs third at 27.

Top area schools in Traditional were Fleming Island in 10th with Leah Anderson second in 183, Bradi Johnson sixth in 119 and Kathryn Ward seventh in 139; Clay 13th with Ansley Lyda fourth in 199, and St. Johns Country Day School in 16th tied with Ridgeview. Ridgeview got eightths at 119 from Ania Haber and Deja Hill at 110.
