KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – Keystone Heights High School football stayed playoff bound with another rush balanced attack led by Dalton Hollingsworth and Kade Sanders to beat Interlachen 23-14 Friday night.

Hollingsworth, a late entry in the strong Indian run game, finished with 113 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Indians with Sanders cranking out 102 yards and one score. Senior Colby Townsend got 10 touches for 59 yards with a 16 yarder his longest run.

“We just play knowing that it’s next man up,” said Keystone Heights coach Chuck Dickinson. “We pulled up seven junior varsity players to give us some depth. The end of the season is about getting to the next game healthy.”

Keystone Heights (7-1) can finish their 2019 season with an 8-1 record with a final home game against 1A-Union County (4-5) on Friday before preparing for a region playoff run. Union County visits Keystone Heights after a 36-12 win over Jordan Christian Prep (6-2) of Auburdale.

In the FHSAA RPI playoff ratings, Keystone Heights sits in third place in region 2-4A with Cocoa High (6-2) on top and South Sumter (7-2) in the second slot. The Villages Charter (6-2) is two spots below Keystone Heights with Astronaut (4-4) and Space Coast (4-5) filling out the probable top six eligible for playoff spots.

In Classes 1A-4A, according to FHSAA guidelines, teams must play at least eight games, top six ranked teams get seeded 1-6 and top two ranked teams get first round byes. Higher seeds host throughout the regional tournament. Team with highest regular season RPI will host state semifinals. Class 4A championship game will be played in Daytona Stadium, Wed., Dec. 11.

“I just tell them, we keep winning games and we keep moving on,” said Dickinson. “We get one of the two top spots and we get a BYE and some rest.”

On the defensive side, freshman Ryan Jones led the stops with nine tackles with Townsend and Hollingsworth both getting eight stops each.

Colton Tibbetts also had an interception on the night.
