COMMERCE—The North Carolina Central University football program survived a late comeback attempt last Saturday evening at Memorial Stadium, holding on to defeat East Texas A&M 50-42.

The Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season.

NCCU kicker Kaleb Robison kicked a 24-yard field goal, his second of the night, with 4:20 left to play, putting the Eagles ahead 50-28. But the Lions responded with an 8-play, 75-yard drive that culminated in a touchdown pass with less than two minutes to go, cutting the lead to 50-35.

Robison is a graduate of Middleburg High.

On Sept. 22, Robison was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's Stats Perform HBCU Specialist of the Week. NCCU teammates Chris Mosley, a running back, was named Offensive Player of the Week, to go along with his National Player of the Week honor earlier in the day. Offensive lineman Trevon Humphrey was named Offensive Lineman of the Week.

In the Eagles' 62-20 win over North Carolina A & T, Robison went a perfect 7-for-7 on PATs and added a 21-yard field goal against the Aggies. He averaged 61.2 yards per kickoff with six touchbacks on the day.

The Eagles are heading into their first bye week; they will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they head to Tallahassee to take on former MEAC rival Florida A&M.
