Missing 15-year-old OP girl finally reunited with family

ORANGE PARK – Community members, missing and trafficking children’s groups were relieved Sunday morning when the Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced a 15-year-old girl who was reported missing and believed to be endangered since Dec. 1 was found and safely reunited with her family.

Alyssa Nicole Umbaugh attracted national attention from CCSO and several organizations dedicated to exploited and missing children after it was reported she was last seen at the Red Roof Inn on Youngerman Circle in Orange Park. Several organizations reported she was being trafficked by someone who may have addicted her to methamphetamine and fentanyl. There is a noticeable difference in her appearance in photos taken just months apart.

The sheriff’s office posted a statement that suggested they don’t believe the Orange Park girl ran away on her own, saying:

“Alyssa Umbaugh has been safely reunited with family members. We appreciate everyone's willingness to share her photo and information as we worked to locate her. Our investigative efforts are ongoing, and anyone who may have encouraged her to run away assisted in hiding her, or kept her whereabouts unknown to law enforcement will be held accountable.”

If you have information about Umbaugh or the man seen with her, call CCSO at (904) 264-6512.
