GREEN COVE SPRINGS - Another step forward was made for the future Oakleaf Plantation Library on Tuesday.
The Board of County Commissioners approved a grant agreement with the State of Florida Department of State for $750,000 to start the design plan for the project.
The Florida Legislature appropriated the funds for the State Fiscal Year 2024/2025.
Clay Today reported that the library is set to be located near Oakleaf Village Elementary at the end of Plantation Oaks Boulevard.
District 2 Commissioner Alexandra Compere, representing Oakleaf constituents, said she’s excited that the project is coming along, especially for residents in the area.
She said that a request for qualifications is set to be sent before the end of the month.
In other news, the BCC proclaimed February as Black History Month. The board recognized many historical county figures and community leaders for their influence and impact.
