Peggy Ann Mayer
Peggy Ann Mayer passed away on October 23, 2022, at the age of 92 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born Peggy Ann Maffey on September 21, 1930.
She was a godsend to her parents, John and Evelyn (Hoess) Maffey, who had already lost two babies. Although Peggy often said she wished she had siblings, she wasn’t lonely as a child. She had many aunts and uncles, and her cousin, Wilfred “Toodie” J. Hoess, was like a brother to her.
Peggy met Robert “Bob” Mayer at a dance. Together they had five children, who they raised in Cincinnati. In the 1970s, she worked as a nurse’s aide at a nursing home.
She then worked as a data entry clerk for Hamilton County until her retirement. Peggy loved music, dancing, animals and traveling. Her life was not always easy, but she never lost her positive attitude or desire to live life to the fullest.
Peggy is survived by her children: Steven (Debra), Angela (Steve), Roberta “Bobbie” (Robert), Merry (Jim) and Jennifer (John).
She was so happy to have five grandchildren: Jonathan (Mayer), Morgan (Shaw-Schwartz), Taylor (Shaw), Benjamin (McManamon) and Maire “Poss” (McManamon). Peggy was thrilled to live to see her granddaughter Morgan and her husband Phillip give her a great grandchild - Walker Schwartz.
