CLAY COUNTY – Last week, the Orange Park Lions Club members visited and donated to two local food banks. Dave and Celia Vencil visited Orange Park's Clothes Closet and Food Pantry. They presented them with a check for $300.
A few days later, club president Ken Groleau visited the Green Cove Springs Food Pantry and presented a holiday donation of $200.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization, with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.
The local Orange Park Lions Club just celebrated their 75th Anniversary this year. They meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at their meeting hall at 423 McIntosh Ave.
The Lions Club does things like providing eyeglasses to those in need, accepting donated used glasses and hearing aids, providing eye exams for those who can't afford them, providing diabetes research, participating in senior citizen services, helping local food banks and many other services.
