JACKSONVILLE – U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard sentenced Lemuel Henry Crowder, 53, of Orange Park, to five years and six months in federal prison for possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Crowder entered his guilty plea on Oct. 20.

According to court documents, on Feb. 26, 2023, deputies with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle driven by Crowder for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, a law enforcement canine alerted deputies of the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Deputies searched Crowder’s vehicle and found more than 20 grams of fentanyl, more than 30 grams of cocaine and a loaded firearm.

CCSO and the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Aakash Singh prosecuted it.
