Penney’s Pavilion for Health Care to receive Governor’s Gold Seal Award

Posted

PENNEY FARMS – Penney Retirement Community’s nursing care home, The Pavilion for Health Care, will be honored with the Governor’s Gold Seal Award for Excellence in Long-Term Care for the 10th consecutive time.

The Pavilion has been honored to earn this distinction for over 20 years. The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration reports as of Thursday, March 30 there are currently only 10 Gold Seal nursing homes in the State of Florida.

With close to 700 nursing homes in the state, less than 2% are Gold Seal facilities.

Recognition of the Gold Seal is based on the quality of care, financial stability and staff retention. The Gold Seal program is regulated by state statute, with the application process administered by the Governor’s Panel on Excellence in Long-Term Care.

In the official Gold Seal site visit report, the panel member noted the loving care demonstrated by the staff for the residents, their unique approach to individual-centered care, and their strong sense of family.

“As President/CEO of our community, I am extremely proud of the leadership and staff devoted to the daily care of those they serve, and they do so with the utmost respect and concern to provide the highest quality of care,” said Teresa Scott, President/CEO of Penney Retirement Community.

The unique nature of service to others at Penney Retirement Community is a significant factor in the quality of care provided at The Pavilion. Because those in The Pavilion have been longtime friends with their neighbors in retirement, it allows their neighbors to visit and volunteer as they continue to live a purposeful life in a caring, long-term environment.

In addition to providing excellent care to residents of the retirement community, The Pavilion serves the greater Clay County community and is the only Gold Seal home in the county.

The Pavilion for Health Care will host a celebration of the Gold Seal Award on Thursday, April 13, at 11 a.m. The Pavilion is located at 3465 Caroline Blvd. on the campus of Penney Retirement Community.

The community is a Christian Continuing Care Retirement Community with more than 500 residents. The not-for-profit organization provides residents with independent living, assisted living, nursing home care, memory care, and short-term rehabilitation.

Founded in 1926 by J.C. Penney, the community offers an active, purposeful lifestyle. For more information, visit VisitPRC.org.
