Proclamations, party highlight Garden Club’s 75th anniversary

The Town of Orange Park and U.S. Rep. Aaron Bean’s office issued proclamations as the Garden Club of Orange Park celebrated its 75th anniversary.

ORANGE PARK – On Dec. 9, 1948, the Orange Park Garden Club was officially organized by 11 women who were interested in improving the beauty of the Town of Orange Park.

Last week, current members and special guests celebrated the 75th anniversary of the club’s founding with proclamations, refreshments, and a PowerPoint presentation highlighting memories throughout the years.

Bryan Campbell, an aide to U.S. Rep. Aaron Bean, read a proclamation which Bean read into the Congressional Record honoring the ongoing legacy of the club. A copy of a proclamation was presented to the Club on Dec. 5 by Mayor Randy Anderson and was read by President Kay Earhart. Both documents are on display at the Orange Park Library on Plainfield Avenue. FFGC District IV Director Sam Runyon attended, and he offered congratulations on behalf of the District and State.

We invite the public to view an informative display entitled “That was Then, This is Now” at the Orange Park Library, featuring photos of past presidents and some of the club’s community service activities.

The Garden Club of Orange Park looks forward to serving the community through educational programs, conservation efforts and warm camaraderie for at least another 75 years.
