Remember your Blessings

Happy Thanksgiving! Make sure to enjoy the time with friends and family. During this season of thanks, remember to be thankful for your blessings.

There are many who have heard the phrase “count your blessings”. On this Thanksgiving Day, let’s think about how much we actually count those blessings. Even in times of difficulty, God is blessing you. Give God thanks for what seems like the least little things. One of mine is the smell of fresh coffee in the morning. Another is the sound and rhythm of ocean waves. Those may seem insignificant. But these things are a blessing to me.

Psalm 103:2 says, “Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.” Sometimes, we have an unfortunate tendency to focus on the negative or uncomfortable things in life. When we live consumed in this way of living, we walk past blessing after blessing the Lord has put in our path.

C.S. Lewis once said, “When we lose one blessing, another is often most unexpectedly given in its place.”

No matter the circumstances of our life today, God has placed blessings all around. To recognize them, all we need do is open our eyes to His presence. God can replace our pain with His peace. God’s peace. A peace that exceeds our ability to understand. (Philippians 4:7) God can give us joy in the midst of our struggle.

God will help us walk in a renewed perspective that will transform how we see our lives. Instead of being weighed down by the challenges of life, we will be able to count our blessings!

Psalm 136:1 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.”

Many may not realize this is not a suggestion, but rather a commandment from the Word of God. God has showered us all with His faithful love, and there is no other proper response than sincere gratitude.

God brings us salvation, freedom, peace, love, joy, hope, and so much more. This Thanksgiving season, let your heart be filled with gratitude to for all God has done. And remember to count your blessings!
