GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Preston and Martha Mangus with the Rotary Club of Fleming Island hosted their Annual Chili Cook-Off on Veterans Day to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project at the Mangus Hanger. Mark Easterling’s classic pot of beefy Tex-Mex stew won first place – and the Golden Peacock Award. Along with WWP, the club also is taking donations for Wreaths Across America (wreathsacrossamerica.org/). Veterans Day weekend is the time for celebrating and paying a special tribute to those who have devoted themselves to service for their country, often putting their very lives on the line.
