MIDDLEBURG – A Jacksonville man was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl after he was stopped by a Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputy on April 10 for not wearing a seatbelt while driving on Blanding Boulevard.

Richard Basil Brown, 50, was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. After the stop, K-9 Ory conducted a sniff search of the exterior of the car and alerted deputies of the likely odor of illegal narcotics. Deputies found methamphetamine, fentanyl, glass pipes, a scale and straws inside a bookbag on the passenger seat.

His bond was set at $155,005.
