CLAY COUNTY — With Mother's Day around the corner on Sunday, May 11, finding a special gift is the goal for many.

But you know the saying: The way to the heart is through the stomach.

So, why not give the gift of food?

Whether it be comfort-style diners, world cuisine or a delicious breakfast, Clay houses plenty of places you can take Mom to tell her you love her.

Here are some local eateries for any genre of food your mom may be craving this holiday.

Looking for a fancy midday brunch? A few places you could stop by:

  • Grumpy's Restaurant, located at 834 Kingsley Ave. and 1805 Blanding Blvd., serves up a range of American and Southern diner dishes.
  • At Middleburg's Brunchville, located at 2710 Blanding Blvd., try a fluffy Belgium waffle topped with fruits, a stuffed omelet and mimosas.
  • The Toasted Yolk Cafe in Fleming Island, located at 1615 County Road 220, hosts a variety of fresh, scratch made dishes, seasonal flavors and cozy breakfast cocktails.
  • In a more casual setting, Maple Street Biscuit Company in Fleming Island, located at 1960 E West Pkwy, offers classic and signature handcrafted biscuit sandwiches and breakfast tacos to name a few.

Maybe homestyle-cooking or comfort food is her thing? Try these:

  • Nicole's on the River, located on 1101 Blanding Blvd., is a causal place to enjoy your choice of southern foods including: fried chicken, seafood and liver and onions.
  • If you're in Keystone Heights, check out the southern style, all-you-can-eat buffet at Keystone Inn Family Restaurant located at 208 State Rte. 100.
  • The over 50-year community staple Tom and Betty's Restaurant and Bar, located at 2134 Park Ave., is another casual diner offering.
  • Callahan's Irish Bistro, located at 2141 Loch Rane Blvd., has a variety of Irish comfort classics including corned beef and cabbage and shepherd's pie.

For dinner, there's also some international cuisine options to check out:
