Unpopular opinions I agree with

Posted

"What's right isn't always popular, and what's popular isn't always right."- Howard Cosell

Everybody has unpopular opinions. And I've come to the point where I feel it's time to share some of mine. While some of these may be hot takes, I think debate is healthy. So, here are eight of my "controversial" unpopular opinions:

1. Breakfast is better at dinnertime.

Yes, breakfast in its essence is supposed to be the first meal of the day. But there's something perfect about eating eggs, pancakes and bacon outside of the norm. It's quick, easy and tasty all in one

2. TV was better when episodes came out once a week, not all at once.

I remember a time when I would anticipate the day when my favorite show would air on television. Every Monday, I was perched in my room at 8 p.m. on the dot. Now, it seems as though that is very rare. With the rise of streaming, I am more likely to finish it in one day. The anticipation is gone. The nerves are gone. And the chance of getting spoiled on the internet is much higher.

3. Cereal is better without milk.

This one is self-explanatory. Sometimes it's better to eat Cheerios dry than to have a pointless bowl of milk leftover.

4. See the movie first, then read the book.

This can sound weird coming from someone who is an avid reader, but hear me out. I always find that when I don't have any expectations of how a movie is going to turn out, I feel less disappointed when I later realize that it's nothing like the book.

5. Fries are better without ketchup.

To be honest, if the fries are actually good, they don't need anything on them at all. Ketchup adds nothing to the taste.

6. Let's be honest, "It's a Small World" is nostalgic, but very boring.

This feels like a Disney World no-no, but I will admit that it's been years since the last time I stepped foot on this ride. And when I do it's usually to escape the heat. If you get past the fact that it's one of Disney's first major attractions, the actual ride is boring. It's just 10 minutes of repetitive singing and dated scenery. But, hey, maybe it's just me.

7. Soundtracks are better than original music.

This is one of my favorite opinions that I will always stand by. Some of my favorite movies and TV shows have the best music. And when I'm able to pinpoint an exact scene or character to my favorite song, it makes listening to it so much better.

8. Stan culture is the worst.

I feel like every person my age has grown up with some type of hardcore affinity with a celebrity. However, nowadays the parasocial and obsessive behavior from super fans can be a bit too much, especially with online communities. It's important to realize that no matter how much you like them, you don't know them and they don't know you.

Thanks for reading my TED Talk. That's all for now but stay tuned because I'm certain there will be more.
