MIDDLEBURG – An angry woman wound up going to jail because she said she was sold the wrong brand of cigarettes on Feb. 14 after the store clerk provided surveillance footage of the woman going behind the counter, struggling with the clerk and taking two packs of cigarettes.
Crystal Lynn Sherouse, 39, of Middleburg, was charged with sudden snatching after a clerk recognized her at the store on County Road 218 nearly three hours after the incident.
When deputies arrived, the clerk provided footage of Sherouse going behind the counter after the clerk refused to exchange the cigarettes. According to the arrest report, when questioned by deputies, Sherouse said, “Yep, that’s me. That woman (clerk) had no reason to put her hands on me (behind the counter). I want her arrested for assault.”
Sherouse’s bond is $10,003.
