FLORAHOME – A former employee was charged with robbing a woman with a pocket knife, then using the knife to keep her from getting help on Jan. 31.
Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported John Henry Howard Jr., 32, of Lake Butler, was charged with armed robbery and false imprisonment after she called CCSO after Howard entered her home without permission.
The sheriff’s office used K-9s to search homes and the wooded area near the scene. They also searched an area where Hampton was reportedly living in a tent. But the search was suspended since “uncontained aggressive” dogs were in the area. CCSO alerted the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and the agency found the suspect in a vacant house on Cardinal Street.
His bond was set at $250,003. He will appear before Judge James E. Kallaher on Feb. 26 for a review.
