FLEMING ISLAND – Whitey’s Fish Camp is fired up for its Ribs and Side Dish Cookoff this Sunday at 2032 County Road 220.
Proceeds from the cookoff, silent auction and 50/50 raffle will benefit the displaced employees from G’s Slow Smoked BBQ, which was destroyed by a fire on Jan. 9. Owner Gary Park already has plans to re-open in Starke within the next three months and he plans to have a second restaurant opened in Clay County within a year.
Ribs will be distributed to the 15 teams at 10 a.m. Judging will begin at 4 p.m., and barbecue plates can be purchased starting at 4:30 p.m.
