In this edition, we talk the Green Cove Springs budget proposal. Have you ever wondered how your tax dollars are spent? The City of Green Cove Springs broke down its 2026-27 tax collection proposal ahead of the second, and final reading of its tax proposal on Tuesday, Sept. 15. The $57.9 million budget has a proposed 5.229 millage rate, which calls for a payment of nearly $5.23 for every $1,000 of the assessed value of the property. It has the same rollback rate – the rate to collect the same amount of money for the current budget. Of that, $11.3 million will go into the city’s general fund, $6.2 million in interfund transfers, $1.4 million for pensions and $13 million for capital investments. The city posted it has $869 million in taxable values of properties.
