Green Cove police, Black Creek Lions, Mercy Support hosting charity golf tournaments

CLAY COUNTY – The Green Cove Springs Police Department is on the lookout for players and sponsors for the third annual Chief Derek S. Asdot Memorial Golf Tournament on March 24 at Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club in Green Cove Springs.

Registration is $120 a player in advance and $135 on the day of play. The fee includes a taco bar and raffles. An $80 Blue Line Special includes the longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin competitions, as well as two mulligans and two beverage car drink tickets.

Sponsorships range from $500 to $2,000.

Proceeds will go to the department’s Community Outreach Program to host events like Truck or Treat, Shop with a Cop, Carolina Around the Cove and National Night Out.

The 17th annual Black Creek Lions Foundation tournament will be on March 8 at Eagle Landing Golf Club in Oakleaf.

The fee is $75 a player, and it includes range balls, greens fee, cart, raffle prizes, goody bags and dinner. A fun pack with a putting tournament, two milligans and one raffle ticket is available for $25.

The Captian’s Choice tournament starts with an 11 a.m. check-in, a putting contest at 12:30 p.m., and a shotgun starts at 1 p.m.

Gordon Chevrolet offers a car and there is a $10,000 cash prize for holes-in-ones at designated par-3s.
