• A family was reunited with their rescuer at Kingsley Lake Park on Saturday. Jon and Megan Tawney were on a kayak with their two children in February when the kayak began to capsize. Fortunately, the family had life jackets, but they were stranded in Kingsley Lake for over an hour

• When St. Johns County resident John Risler turned 64, he was faced with having to understand and then maneuver something that had previously been foreign to him – Medicare. Now a volunteer with ElderSource, northeast Florida’s Area on Aging agency, he helps seniors overcome the same fear he once had.
• In the wake of controversial trials that garnered national attention, a University of North Florida poll conducted in February shows State Attorney Angela Corey has a 51 percent disapproval rating. A professor behind the poll said Corey’s public image is poor because she is seen as overcharging some of those she has prosecuted.
• Sharing the story of the Clay County Agricultural Fair with the community and its partners is key to a strong and successful fair. Pete Sutton, fair association manager, shared the fair’s story with the Green Cove Springs City Council and council meeting attendees on March 17.

• Police say a desperate call for help to 911 led to the arrest of James Harris Jones Jr. for the charge of sexual battery on March 17.
• The steady rush of Blanding Boulevard was interrupted by an evening crash on March 22, when Steven Elliot Dinges of Jacksonville sideswiped a Chevrolet vehicle and continued southbound as he crashed into the cab of a Volvo truck.
• The Florida Elections Commission has issued an “Order of No Probable Cause” in a complaint against Clerk of Court James Jett lodged by former employee Zor Paige Barthlow.
