FLEMING ISLAND — By now it's clear that what was once the famed orange and white Whataburger is no longer. I'm sure you've seen the construction workers and bulldozers.
And according to its neighbor Zaxbys, it's goodbye with the old and in with the new.
As previously reported last year, the plot of land is being transformed into a new and improved Zaxbys restaurant. So, no, there will not be a brand-new eatery, the current location at 1525 County Road 220 will simply be shifting over.
Demolishment of the building began back in April. It is set to be remodeled to include a larger space and bigger parking lot but keep the same flavor that the community has known and loved for more than 20 years.
