JACKSONVILLE - With a roster housing five former Clay County womens soccer standouts; Sydney Hauth (Fleming Island), Liz Fogarty (Clay), Avery Raimondo (St. Johns Country Day School), Lauren Weiss (St. Johns Country Day School) and Bella Pontieri (St. Johns Country Day School), the University of North Florida womens' soccer team is off to an unbeaten season start with a quick tie, and 3-0 win in their first two games.

Against the University of Florida in an exhibition game, the Lady Ospreys, who finished 4-7-5 last season, finished off with a 0-0 tie on August 12 then returned to the pitch on Thurs., Aug. 17 to defeat the Air Force Academy 3-0.
North Florida women's soccer (1-0-0) improved to 5-0 in season openers under head coach Eric Faulconer as the Ospreys dismantled Air Force (0-1-0) in a 3-0 rout, August 17.
The Lady Ospreys struck first in the 28th minute with sophomore Allie Fekany, a Boone High (FL) graduate, opened the scoring in the 28th minute after a beautiful long ball from Weiss put her through on goal. Weiss, a junior, is a St. Johns Country Day School standout. Weiss has been playing since a freshman with the Osprey defense recording a school record eight shutouts her freshman year and seven shutouts in her sophomore season. Weiss was selected as an A-Sun All Freshman selection and a 2021 All-ASUN second teamer.
Just 15 minutes later, freshman Avery Raimondo, another St. Johns Country Day School standout, sent a ball into the box finding the feet of Sydney Hauth who worked it past goalkeeper Sydney Davis. Hauth, red shirt senior, is a Fleming Island High standout.
"I believe we found a true diamond with Avery Raimondo," said Faulconer. "She is an excellent ball-distributing holding midfielder and has a very high-level soccer IQ."
Liz Anne Fogarty, a Clay High standout, put the game to bed in the 86th minute after she was brought down in the box to set up a flawless penalty kick goal. Fogarty is a two year letter winner at Georgia State after first playing at Mississippi State with five goals at the NCAA Division I level with MSU.
"I have known Liz Anne for a long time and we are thrilled to provide her the opportunity to close out her career back home at UNF," said Faulconer. "Liz can play center back, anywhere in the midfield and at center forward. She has scored five times at the collegiate level, is powerful in the air and strikes the ball very well from long range. These were two elements that our 2022 team was lacking."
Pontieri played 44 minutes and had one of three shots on goal for the Ospreys.
Goalkeepers Sarah Barrentine (Dunedin) and Sofia Miliancano (Boca) split the halves and helped contribute to a seventh clean sheet in the Osprey's last eight contests. The performance marked UNF's seventh-straight clean sheet on the Hodges Stadium pitch.
